One outgrowth of Hoover's work in combining his painting with his composition is filmscoring.  This connects the literal narrative of words and images in film to his music.  His goal is to support the plot and direction of the filmmaker with appropriate and engaging music, through collaboration and the time-honored spotting process.  Hoover includes traditional orchestral style scoring as well as inclusion of jazz and commercial elements in his filmscores.
